Regular size uniforms do not fit everyone nor can they easily be altered after the fact to fit properly and maintain design standards. In those cases, special size uniforms are required.

Every member is different but a number of factors such as musculature, bust, stomach and posture as well as shoulder and chest positions make it impossible for regular size uniforms to fit certain members correctly even after alterations. Special size uniforms avoid expensive reorders, rework and alterations and fit these members on the first try.
